HOPATCONG RECREATION
COMMISSION
DECEMBER 9, 2003
The meeting of the Hopatcong
Recreation Commission was opened by Tim Carey at
8:05 p.m. with a statement
that this meeting is held in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act,
N.J.S.A. 10:4-1 et seq., annual notice having been forwarded to The New Jersey
Herald, The Daily Record and The News-Leader and posted on the bulletin board
maintained in the Municipal Building for public announcements.

Tim Carey
ABSENT: Al Imbimbio

The Recreation Commission
recognizes the resignation of Vince Poisella.
Also in attendance were
Debbie Armeno, Recreation Coordinator, Laurie Spaziani, Council Liaison and
Mayor Richard Hodson.
Tim Carey led the Salute To
The Flag.
MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Chris Anderson, President of
the Hopatcong Warriors attended the meeting this evening and had a complaint
about the Rutgers Training Class. Chris
said the Hopatcong Warriors were never informed of the training class,
therefore the coaches went without the proper training and Chris said he was
upset because of this.
On behalf of the Recreation
Commission, Tim Carey apologized to Chris Anderson about the matter. Tim said it was just a lack of communication
and the Recreation Commission does apologize.
Debbie Armeno said she sent
out a letter to the previous president of The Warriors to the last address she
had. Tim said he will take this under
advisement and next year it will be placed out on signs and to get it out to
all the people involved and hoping that sometime in the future the Commission
will be able to have some type of mailing list and it will also put it up on
the website.
Chris Anderson would also
like to be informed if there is any off season training. Tim Carey said the Commission will try to
bring it to his attention as soon as it becomes scheduled.
Debbie suggested that if
there are new officers elected, it would be a good idea if the information is
forwarded to the Recreation Commission.
Tim added that under the New
Jersey law, the principles in a non-profit corporation that are involved in
little league and football are covered under various other laws which are
exempt from other liabilities that the organization might be subject to, and if
the Commission has a record of the officers and something comes up, then the Commission
can substantiate who the specific officers are.
MEETING CLOSED TO THE
PUBLIC
Tim Carey said the Commission
submitted a budget which held to this year’s operating portion of the budget in
keeping with the overall concerns for the tax base and some limited capital
improvements to meet some of the safety standards that would be required as the
equipment becomes older. Joan Reilly
requested that the Commission get a copy of the budget.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Laurie Spaziani informed the
Recreation Commission that the batter boards have been delivered.
Debbie Armeno confirmed that
she has a copy of the rules, regulations, by-laws and guide lines for the
roller hockey. The extreme items fall
into a different category and Debbie said we must thoroughly follow the guide
lines. Debbie said there is a meeting
scheduled to see how to handle the skate time.
