Dear Friend of Lake
Hopatcong:
Did you know that Lake Hopatcong was once two bodies of
water? Or that
steamboats were once the principal mode of transportation on the
Lake? Or that Lake Hopatcong was once a
major resort with hotels and rooming houses dotting its shores? Since 1955, our mission has been to preserve
the history of our community. Our
Museum, located in the old Canal Lock Tender's House at the State Park in Landing,
has been recognized as one of the finest small museums in New Jersey. Six exhibits present the Lake's history from
the time of the Lenape through "Nickel
Nights" at Bertrand Island Amusement Park.
Why
not become a part of the fun by joining the Lake Hopatcong Historical
Museum? Members receive our quarterly
newsletter which contains interesting articles about the Lake's history and
keeps you informed of upcoming activities.
As a member you will receive notification of our popular dinner programs
and invitations to special members only events at the
Museum. Finally, you will have the
satisfaction of knowing that your dues are helping to preserve Lake Hopatcong's
history.
We
look forward to an exciting future and hope that you will join in exploring
the history of New Jersey's largest lake.
Membership in the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum is only $20.00 per
year for individuals or families.
Please
remember that we receive no state funding.
It's up to our members to keep it going.
So why not join today!
Yearly Dues - $20.00 (Individual
